Network Collaboration: Where digitalization meets Aviation

We wanted to create an environment for digital innovation and the exchange of ideas. Our goal: to further improve our efficiency for the benefit of our customers.

What is behind the "Aviation Campus"? The Aviation Campus is a common environment for leveraging synergies and creating space for opportunities. We bring together people, start-ups, cooperation partners, technologies and industry trends. An environment in which we can realize ideas and innovate in the world of aviation - every day.

How do we do this in practice? Whether data analytics or artificial intelligence - we always keep an eye on new technologies and are constantly expanding our sound IT know-how. With more than 16 locations worldwide, we are right in the middle of the project. With our network of partners and cooperations, such as Nagarro or Microsoft, we bundle technologies and knowledge to be broadly positioned.

For us, networking and the comprehensive exchange across all borders is important. Regardless of the problem of our customers, we want to make the best solution available from a network of possibilities - fast and unbureaucratic. This is what the Aviation Campus is all about.

Olivier Krüger, CEO Lufthansa Systems

The Aviation Campus is thus a network of partners and customers. It reflects a way of thinking and a new way of doing things.

Cooperation for a stable flight plan: Resilient Scheduling

Flight delays annoy passengers and cost money. But how can the risk of delays be minimized? Reduce predicted delays by up to 20%.

Currently, the flight planner has little information on delay risks, although the flight plan is essential for punctual flight operations.

Based on historical flight data, we have developed a model for predicting delays. Buffers are distributed as efficiently as possible to prevent delays from continuing from flight to flight without reducing the productivity of the flight plan.

To build up a schedule that is more resilient when it comes to delays, we set up a data science research project as part of a joint project between Lufthansa Systems and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Wouldn’t it be great to reduce predicted delays by up to 20%? We have found a way to achieve this by changing only the aircraft routing. Get in touch with us!

World Travel Award for BoardConnect

For the second time in a row we have won the World Travel Award with BoardConnect. The winning ceremony took place on December 1st in Lisbon, Portugal.

The World Travel Awards were created in 1993. Every year, an international jury of experts and peers from the hospitality industry, mainly from the World Travel and Tourism Council, decides on a wide range of awards. These are awarded to hotels, airlines, car rental companies, tour operators, destinations and IT providers.

With BoardConnect, we again made it onto the winners' podium in the category "World's Leading Inflight Entertainment Provider 2018", as in the previous year. In doing so, we successfully prevailed against such renowned competitors as Global Eagle, Gogo, Panasonic Avionics, Rockwell Collins, Thales InFlyt Experience and Zodiac Aerospace.
